Met detectives have formally charged Sarah Everard’s killer Wayne Couzens with four counts of indecent exposure in Kent.

The incidents allegedly occurred in the Swanley area of Sevenoaks between January 22 and February 27 last year.

Couzens, 49, was charged by detectives on Wednesday and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 13.

In a statement last week, Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “Following a referral of evidence by the Metropolitan Police, the CPS has authorised four charges of indecent exposure against Wayne Couzens.

“The four alleged offences took place between January and February 2021.

“He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 April.”

Couzens was a serving Met Police officer when he abducted and killed Sarah Everard in March last year.

Ms Everard’s body was recovered from woodland near Ashford in Kent, about 20 miles west of Couzens’s home in Deal, Kent, a week after she disappeared.

A postmortem established the cause of death as compression of the neck.

Couzens is serving a whole life prison order for Ms Everard’s murder after being sentenced in September.
