Family and friends have paid tribute to a Londoner who was stabbed to death at a Croatian music festival.

Ugo Wilson, 26, was stabbed outside the Kalypso nightclub on Zrce Beach, in Novalja on the island of Pag at around 5.30am yesterday.

His devastated family today paid tribute.

Mr Wilson’s older brother told the Standard: “It’s so important to catch them, [his killers] are still on the island somewhere and police are investigating.

“We are devastated."

A close friend said: “He was an amazing man, there is no way he deserved this.”

Another friend Dani Wright paid tribute to Mr Wilson, also known as Kraze, on Facebook.

He said: “Rip Kraze... soon as festivals get bait London folks have to ruin it. On holiday of all places.”

Another added: “Wow this world is a f***ed up place only yesterday I was watching you and my little brother living life up in Hideout to then find out this morning that you was killed over there last night. Fly safe Kraze rest in peace.”

Mr Wilson was stabbed in a fight between two groups of tourists, according to reports in Croatia.

Images from the scene showed the area outside Kalypso nightclub sealed off as police stood guard.

A witness told The Sun that a DJ set came to a halt amid the chaos and said he saw a man lying on the floor while another was covered in blood.

A Foreign Office spokesman told the Standard: “Staff from the British Embassy in Zagreb are supporting the family of a British man who died following an incident in Novalja, and are in contact with the Croatian police and the State Attorney.”

A spokesman for Hideout festival said: "Following an incident involving a group of young men at Zrće Beach early this morning [Wednesday], one man tragically lost his life.

"Another man remains in hospital.

“We are giving every assistance to the investigation and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the people affected.”
