Christmas has been saved for a group of primary school pupils after their local postman dressed up as an elf to take their letters to Santa.

Reception and year one pupils at Antingham and Southrepps Primary School near Norwich had written letters to Santa, but due to the rural location of the school, the nearest post box is too far to deliver them.

But they were given a festive surprise last week after postman Andrew Harrison donned an elf costume and collected their wish lists to deliver to the North Pole.

Head of School Emma Harding said: “Because of our location in the village, Andrew comes into the office every day to deliver our post.

“He’s very sweet, he’s a lovely character.

“Once we came up with the idea of writing letters to Santa, we ran it past him and he said he’d love to help us.

“He was really excited about it too and wanted to help, and suggested he could wear a hat.

“The children were over the moon when he came in dressed in that outfit with magic dust and a Santa post sack.

“It was all off his own back.”
