These photos show the moment two police officers crashed a happy couple’s wedding during a police chase.

Toby and Becky Eyre were posing for photos in Oxford’s Hinksey Park on Saturday when Police came tearing through their wedding venue hot on the heels of a criminal.

“At first we just saw a man running and heard police shouting 'stop'... We tried to get out of the way as much as possible," Mr Eyre told the BBC.

Mrs Eyre said that she and her husband had gone to the park to have a quiet moment to enjoy their wedding before returning to the reception but were interrupted when a man came running round the lake before jumping into the water.

Officers arrested two culprits before returning to the park to take photos with the happy couple.

Photos posted on the Thames Valley Police Twitter feed showed the bride beaming next to an officer in his police car.

She said the officers were happy to pose for a “free photo shoot”.

The couple told the BBC that the story got a “few laughs” when they returned to their wedding reception.

The newlyweds did not see the arrests being made but officers later confirmed that two men were being held on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Police said that the men aged 43 and 36 were from the Oxford area and have been released under investigation.
