Police name man found on bonfire

12 April 2012

Police have named a 40-year-old man who was found dead lying on a bonfire in the garden of his cottage.

David Paul Langdon was found in his garden in Wormelow, Herefordshire, just before 8pm on Thursday.

Three people have been arrested in connection with his death and remain in custody, West Mercia Police said.

Mr Langdon had been missing since August 4.

Det Chief Insp Dave LLewellin said: "By naming him now we hope that anyone who knew him - or just recognised him - will be able to help us fill in the gaps as to what has happened to him during the 10 days prior to his body being found."

Officers said they were treating Mr Langdon's death as unexplained and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Forensic searches of the cottage and house-to-house inquiries in the area have been carried out.

Police have also sealed off an address in the nearby village of Much Birch where a forensic search has taken place.

Anyone with information should contact police on 08457 444888 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
