Patient to be quizzed over shooting

12 April 2012

Police were waiting at a hospital to interview a man in connection with a shooting in which a man died and his wife was injured.

The 23-year-old suffered self-inflicted facial wounds in the incident at a house in the Cornish hamlet of Porth Kea on Saturday night and was taken to hospital, where he is still receiving treatment.

He was arrested in a police operation at an address in Penzance, west Cornwall.

Businessman Adam Hustler, 41, who runs a drain clearance firm, died in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, of gunshot injuries.

His wife, Amanda, in her 40s, was shot twice in the incident and was taken to the same hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said she was still in hospital on Monday, but was unable to say what her condition was.

Police were called to Porth Kea House in Porth Kea, near Truro, just before 10pm on Saturday following a 999 call.

A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered, but police gave no details of it.

The arrested man is understood to be the former boyfriend of a daughter of Mr and Mrs Hustler.
