A 79-year-old man from Essex arrested on suspicion of sexual offences has become the 19th person to be quizzed by detectives from Operation Yewtree, Scotland Yard said today

Officers said the man was taken to a local police station earlier today and has been bailed to return in early December pending further enquiries.

No further details have been released but police did say the individual falls under a strand of the investigation they have termed 'others'.

His arrest is the 19th since Operation Yewtree was set up by the Met to examine child sex abuse allegations in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.
