BBC presenter Simon McCoy calls himself 'professional k**b' in tongue-in-cheek video

A notorious curmudgeonly BBC newsreader has poked fun at himself as a “professional knob” while filming for BBC’s This Week.

Simon McCoy is known for his colourful outbursts during serious news items.

During the announcement of the due date of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child he famously went off script.

“Now bearing in mind they announced that she was pregnant back in September and it was thought she was around two, three months pregnant, I’m not sure how much news this really is but anyway, its April,” he said on air.

On the bit for This Week he introduced another royal story with: “And finally we’re getting some broken, breaking news,” and finished the piece by ripping up the script.

He finished the read by saying: “Anyway on that note, I’m a professional knob.”
