New Year's Eve weather London: Revellers warned of wet weather as showers set to dampen fireworks

Alexandra Richards31 December 2017

Londoners heading out to ring in the New Year have been warned to "bring a coat and a brolly” by forecasters predicting a drizzly evening.

Although Storm Dylan appears to be heading out of the UK, partygoers in the capital will still need to be prepared for intermediate showers in the run up to the New Year.

According to Met Office forecaster Stephen Keates, those hoping to remain dry when waiting for the Mayor’s annual fireworks display will need to bring a coat and an umbrella as temperatures remain at 6 C and showers are anticipated for around 10 pm.

However, when the clock strikes midnight there will be a brief dry spell providing optimum conditions for the fireworks display.
