Nando’s launches new summer menu, with Peri-Peri loaded chips

Nando’s has launched new menu items from today, just in time for the summer season.

The super-popular chicken chain has launched the new additions across all restaurants in the UK, after teasing peri-peri lovers last week.

They shared the announcement of the new adds in a cryptic video across its social media channels five days ago, asking followers to solve riddles.

The video showed a “loading” message alongside images of three hot chillies and then going on to show a close-up snapshot of the new item.

People were quick to guess that it would be Fully Loaded Chips.

And today (June 6) the guesses were confirmed, with the new items available and ready to grab at any of the chains.

The £8 chips are described as: “Peri-salted chips and pulled chicken in whatever spice you fancy, with added melted Cheddar cheese, spring onions, mild Peri-Tamer sauce, and a creamy dressing.”

One fan, going by the name Elisa, wrote in the Nando’s comment section: “Oh my goodness me. Booking myself in for my next Nando’s fix immediately.”

But the fully loaded fries are not the only addition.

The peri-peri chain has also launched a new item for its vegetarian fans.

The veggie-friendly pepper and feta dip is a twist on the old favourite ‘red pepper dip and pitta’ starter, which was previously discontinued.

Not only that, but they have brought back the mild garlic BBQ ‘guest spice’, which hasn’t been on the menu for a while, but is now making a return for a limited time only.

The news of the new arrivals comes just months after the spicy franchises came up with the genius idea of using a robot to crank out a bottomless bounty of chips for Londoners.

The droid — trialled back in March — can make a whopping 550 portions of French fries per hour —which is a lot of cheeky Nando’s orders.

The bot kicked in for the fries overload at the Park Royal restaurant in West London and is the first restaurant in the world to use an autonomous appliance that can fry up to 60kg of chips per hour.

The chip-making machine, known as the /FRYR210, uses state-of-the-art robotics and motion control to handle the entire cooking process, and can even shuttle multiple baskets of chips from the freezer to the deep fryer without the need for human intervention.

Other Nando’s fans have called for the Caesar salad to make a return — but there’s no sign of its return yet.
