A musician spent an entire day hanging out of his flat window filming unsuspecting pedestrians slipping on the same patch of treacherous ice.

The amusing footage, filmed by Harry Charles, shows people sliding and falling over again and again as they make their way along a stretch of pavement in Manchester.

The clip, which has been viewed more than two million times on Twitter, shows more than 20 people slipping on the dangerous patch of ice including three who stacked it and fell over completely.

While many people said they found the footage hilarious, others hit out at the musician for not stopping to warn people or checking if they were OK.

Warning: Strong language

He tweeted back: “So many people getting touchy over that video. I swear on my god daughter’s two blue eyes if someone looked like they were actually hurt I’d be straight down the stairs and outside to see if they were right.”

Scores of people tweeted about feeling guilty for finding the footage "hilarious".

Niamh Goodwin wrote: " So harsh, but funny."

Chloe wrote: "the first thing we think to do is record instead of helping."

Ellie Brock said she couldn't help but laugh.

Other people described the video as a very “British” moment.

One person wrote: “This is pure British humour at its finest.”

Another said: “Why are us British people like this?”

Andy Borland wrote: “I get the distinct impression some water may have deliberately been dropped which predates this hilarity.”

Freezing weather swept across Britain this week caused by the Beast from the East. Storm Emma hit on Thursday causing temperatures to plummet further.

The Met Office issued its highest weather warning across parts of Scotland and England as temperatures plunged as low as -6.

London is expected to be hit with further heavy snow this morning as Storm Emma, rolling in from the Atlantic, meets the Beast from the East's chilly Russia air.

Drivers were told that there was the potential for delays on roads and some vehicles could become stranded as snow settles in some areas.

Cancellations were expected on rail and air travel.
