Murder probe as family found dead

12 April 2012

Police have launched a triple murder inquiry following the death of a young mother and her two daughters.

The bodies of the 26-year-old woman and her children aged five and six were discovered in bed together in a house in Nelson Street, East Ham, in east London.

Police forced their way into the two-bedroom terraced house after being alerted by a worried relative.

The sister of the woman, who has been named locally as Juli, became concerned after having no contact with her for nine days.

When officers got no response at the house they forced their way in and found all three bodies together in an upstairs bedroom.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no signs of violence and there was no evidence of forced entry at the house, police said

Police believe they know the identity of the family but will not release their names until relatives, some of whom live in Bangladesh, have been informed.

They are trying to trace the woman's estranged husband to inform him of the deaths. A post mortem examination is due to take place.

On Wednesday the street where the bodies were found was sealed off as officers carried out their inquiries. Only residents were allowed to access buildings in the road as a single officer stood guard outside the house.
