Mr Motivator delights with workout to BBC News music

Mr Motivator has given fitness fans a Friday boost with an unique home-workout session.

The 68-year-old instructor, known for his colourful lycra ensembles, delighted BBC Breakfast viewers with a short routine to one of British broadcasting’s most recognisable jingles.

Marching to the beat in neon socks, the father-of-four – real name Derrick Errol Evans – exercised to the BBC News theme tune.

Beaming as he led the live-streamed class alongside wife Sandra Palmer, he said: “Look what music I’m using.”

The Jamaican-born star, who was awarded an MBE last year for his services to health and fitness, then told his audience: “I believe that the greatest gift you can give yourself is an independent, healthy you.”

He continued: “So come on, exercise for everybody, no matter what your age, no matter how young, no matter how old.”

Then, addressing presenters Charlie Sayt and Naga Munchetty, he said: “Come on Naga. Do it, Charlie, you’ve got to practice, because I need your body, Charlie.”

His motivational message left the pair in stitches, as Sayt obeyed the instructions with a bicep curl of his water bottle.

The self-styled “health and wellbeing” coach launched free workouts on his YouTube channel after England entered its third national lockdown.

He and Palmer are also hosting three Zoom classes a week to raise funds for the homeless.
