Meghan Markle has left one of her two rescue dogs behind after moving to the UK to marry Prince Harry.
The 36-year-old bride-to-be’s beloved Beagle Guy was legally allowed to stay with her in the UK, while Bogart, her first pet, will now live with friends, Prince Harry’s communications secretary Jason Knauf said on Tuesday.
It came as the newly-engaged couple revealed that they were to marry at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May next year.
Ms Markle and Prince Harry gave their first TV interview on Monday afternoon in which the American actress said she had brought just one of her dogs over to the UK. She did not make it clear whether this was a permanent move.
She told the BBC's Mishal Husain: "I have two dogs that I've had for quite a long time, both my rescue pups.
"And one is now staying with very close friends and my other little guy is, yes he's in the UK, he's been here for a while.
"I think he's doing just fine."
Mr Knauf said on Tuesday: “Bogart is now living with friends.”
Ms Markle has said the pair "mean the absolute world" to her and she refers to them as "my loves" and "my boys".
Guy and Labrador-shepherd mix Bogart have regularly featured on her Instagram account, with Guy even appearing in a patriotic knitted union flag jumper.
It was American comedian and chat show host Ellen DeGeneres who convinced Ms Markle to adopt Bogart, her first pet, after she bumped into her in a shelter.
"She turns around and comes and taps on the window glass and she yells 'take the dog!' And so I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to," she said.
Prince Harry joked during the couple’s interview that the Queen’s Corgis had taken to Ms Markle straight away, while he had been experienced being barked at for 33 years.
Ms Markle is a keen advocate of adopting dogs, often using the #adoptdontshop hashtag in her posts, which will go down well with Harry's stepmother the Duchess of Cornwall.

Camilla is patron of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and adopted her two adored Jack Russells, Beth and Bluebell, from the shelter.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a cocker spaniel called Lupo, a wedding present from Kate's brother James Middleton.
Harry grew up surrounded by dogs.
