The alleged killer of two French students tried to burgle the home of an EastEnders actress hours before the brutal murders, the Old Bailey has heard.
Dano Sonnex talked about robbing "Mo Harris's" south London home, according to co-defendant Nigel Farmer.
Jurors were told earlier that an attempted burglary took place at the home of actress Maureen Bass - stage name Laila Morse - that same night.
A friend who disturbed the intruder described how he had climbed on top of the conservatory and when confronted said he wanted "Mo's signature".
Ms Bass, 63, who plays battleaxe Mo Harris, matriarch of Albert Square's Slater family, is the sister of Hollywood star Gary Oldman.
The court heard that she called police at 5am, half an hour before the murderous attack on brilliant biochemistry students Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, 23, allegedly began at Mr Bonomo's south London bedsit. They were stabbed 244 times in what prosecutors have described as an "orgy of bloodletting" in June last year.
Farmer, 34, who denies taking part in the murders, told a jury that he was with Sonnex at the home of a friend who cannot be named.
"Dano was talking to (the friend) about committing a burglary - he said Mo Slater from EastEnders's house. Him and Dano went into the garden."
The court has heard that Ms Bass's back garden was adjacent to the address where the discussion took place. Farmer said he took no part in what happened next but then looked out of the double doors at the back of the home.
"Dano was on top of some sort of structure. It could have been an extension or a lean-to. He looked at me like he had a knife between his teeth and attempted to climb down. I was a bit taken aback by what was happening and didn't want any involvement in it. I got ready to leave."
