A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a teenage girl who was shot in a takeaway restaurant.

Mohammed Smoured, 21, from Hackney, east London, was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey.

Agnes Sina-Inakoju, 16, also from Hackney, was shot through the window of a fast food outlet on April 14 and died two days later.

Smoured appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court as Agnes's mother spoke of her "great loss".

Safurat Ibrahim Inakoju said she was struggling to cope with the death of her daughter.

She told The Times: "It's a great loss, it's not easy. She was a caring baby, she was my last baby."

Agnes's brother, Abiola, said he had warned his sister of the dangers young people faced on the streets.

He said: "Here every kid knows friends that have been stabbed. They have seen things they are not meant to see. What is the future for them?"

Another man, Leon Dunkley, 21, from east London, appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with Agnes's murder. He was also remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey.

A 16-year-old boy arrested in connection with the murder was released on bail until June.
