A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of another man at a Christmas Day party.

Vaides Juras, 33, of Beach Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex, is alleged to have stabbed Lithuanian national Bronius Juras, 38, from Bayford Road, Littlehampton.

He appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court for a brief hearing and the case was adjourned until Friday for a bail hearing at Southwark Crown Court.

Officers were called at about 9pm to the party at an address in Beach Road.

A post-mortem examination found that Mr Juras died from a single stab wound to his heart.

Originally 12 people were arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Sussex Police said the other 11 have now either been released without charge or, in the case of three men, bailed for four weeks while inquiries continue.
