Man held over shop worker shooting

12 April 2012

A 44-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a shop worker.

West Midlands Police said the suspect had been detained in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man who was gunned down on Wednesday at a convenience store in Birmingham.

Detectives believe that only one shot was fired by a gunman who may have been accompanied by another male.

The murder in Villa Road, Lozells, follows a string of violent incidents in the area, including a fatal shooting in nearby Newtown on November 13.
