12 April 2012

A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was knifed to death in a street brawl.

Martin Dinnegan, 14, died after being stabbed in Islington, north London, on Tuesday night.

Police said he and his friends had become involved in an argument with a group of up to 20 youths.

Sean Clarke, 20, from Holloway, will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Monday charged with murder, a Yard spokesman said.

A 15-year-old boy from Islington appeared at the same court on Saturday also charged with murder.

He was made the subject of a secure remand to Thames Youth Court next Friday.

There was no application for bail.

Relatives of the defendant sat in the well of the court for the brief hearing, during which the charge was not put.

Another 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old male youth are also in custody in connection with the inquiry, the Yard spokesman said.
