A 102-year-old man who spent three days trapped on the roof of his Devon home has died.

Ron Easton got stuck after falling over or collapsing after climbing onto the roof of his house to fix an aerial.

He was found last week lying in a gully between his house and garage with his bucket of tools next to him.

Nigel Toms, who was the first paramedic on the scene, said he was found lying on a garden rake.

The ambulance crew, with the help of the fire service, managed to bring him down before he was taken to hospital in an air ambulance.

His family said he died on Friday at a Plymouth hospital.

A local tribute has been made which reads "Ton-Up Ron RIP", a nickname referencing the former racing driver's love of cars.

Trish Bagley, who discovered Mr Easton, previously told the BBC he was a "strong man" who was "always out in the garden".

A flag in the village of Bigbury-on-Sea, where he lived, has also been lowered to half-mast in tribute.
