A man has died in a multiple-car collision which has left the M32 closed in both directions near Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police say the collision involved five vehicles and happened on the northbound stretch of the motorway just after 10pm on Saturday.

Police said the incident started with one collision, after which the man got out of his car and was struck by another vehicle. He died at the scene.

Another person suffered back injuries, while two others also reported injuries.

The motorway remains closed in both directions between junctions 1 and 2 while an investigation is carried out by police, who have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
