M1 crash: man taken to hospital following rush-hour collision

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the M1 during rush hour this morning.

The collision, involving only one vehicle, has sparked major delays on the motorway.

Firefighters rescued the man from the car close to Leicester Forest East services and he was taken to hospital at around 4.20am.

Three lanes of the M1 southbound, between junction 21 and 22 are closed.

The A46 is also closed.

It comes after a man was killed on the busy motorway following a crash involving two lorries on Friday.
