London’s Covid hospitalisation rate has dropped to levels not seen since before the outbreak of Omicron, new figures show.

According to NHS data, the number of primary care patients in hospital with Covid is now 788.

That is the lowest number of primary cases since October 25, 2021, the Telegraph reports.

As of February 3, 2022, a total of 2,370 patients were in London hospitals as a result of Covid, a fall from the 2,602 on January 27.

On February 3, there were 152 patients in mechanical ventilation beds in London hospitals, a fall from 166 patients on 27 January.

Across England, admission rates have dropped from a recent peak of 2,370 on December 29, to 1,537 on February 1.

Case rates also fell to 40,302 on February 2, after reaching a high of 234,294 on January 4 in England.

Across the UK, cases have fallen to 44,249 after surging to 270,191 on December 29, due to the Omicron variant.

While cases are beginning to fall, families are set to face issues if they wish to travel to Europe over half-term.

Spanish tourism officials told The Times that children who have had one vaccine dose will not be permitted to enter the country – even if they have recently recovered from Covid.

Unvaccinated travellers must also provide a negative Covid test 24 hours before departure and provide an essential reason for their journey.
