Brightly coloured resin ice lollies are among the work going on show at pop artist Emma Gibbons first solo London show.
The former assistant to Damien Hirst has teamed up with the Reem Gallery in Ham Yard in Soho for the show which features her trademark use of glittery pill capsules.
Among the work in the exhibition, which closes soon on June 18, is her Addiction No.5 series - a scent bottle full of handmade glitter pills.
Gibbons, from St Ives in Cornwall, said the exhibition is “a comment on consumerism”.
She said: “And through that, the lens tilts towards addiction, which again, is everywhere in our current culture and society. Addiction to substances but also to things.
“There’s a million and one things to be addicted to - including art.
“Predominantly my work is a celebration of colour, and a way to connect people through shared joy.”
“There is also a huge ‘over the top’ element to the work. They are ‘extra’, ‘excessive’; both in their use of colour and texture.”
She uses pharmaceutical grade pill capsules for her work, filling them with coloured resin before adding glitter, sand and cake sprinkles.
Gibbon spent seven years working for Hirst including on the installation of his For The Love of God diamond encrusted skull at White Cube Gallery.
