A jobseeker says she was left humiliated after being branded “chavvy” and potentially “irritating” in an email mistakenly sent to her by a firm she had applied to.
Paige Bond, 48, received the email from Forest Whole Foods after sending an application for a box packaging role at the organic grocer.
It read: “She is probably worth interviewing if you think you can cope with having someone like her around.”
It also mentioned her pink fingernails and added that she “would probably lift spirits in the packing room”.
The message, which is believed to have been based on an analysis of her brief CV and Facebook page, ended: “Delete this email in case you took her on and she found it.”
Ms Bond, from Hampshire, told the Sun: “I’m quite glamorous and yes I have big boobs but how can they judge me on that? The last thing I am is a chav.
“I brighten up my Facebook page, and I enjoy a selfie, but if I’m being judged on this, it’s disgusting. It’s humiliating and totally wrong.”
She said she received an apology for the email over voicemail and decided to still go in for an interview.
She did not receive a face-to-face apology during the interview until she brought up the email at the end. She added that she had no intention of working for the firm, based in Christchurch.
An employee at Forest Whole Foods confirmed the incident to the Sun and said an apology had been made.
The Standard has contacted Forest Whole Foods for further comment.
