Jo Brand praised for calling out sexual harassment on Have I Got News For You

Alexandra Richards4 November 2017

Jo Brand taught the Have I got News for You panel a valuable lesson about sexual harassment when she appeared on the BBC One show on Friday.

Ms Brand reminded the panel that no case of sexual harassment was insignificant after Ian Hislop described an incident of harassment where an MP took his personal trainer to the cinema as “not some high level crime, not compared to Putin or Trump.”

Ms Brand responded: “Can I just say as the only representative of the female gender here today, I know it’s not high level, but it doesn’t have to be high level for women to feel under siege in somewhere like the House of Commons.”

She went on to say that being harassed constantly as a woman “wears you down”.

Ms Brand received tremendous praise on Twitter.

Ollie Pope wrote: “Think #HIGNFY may regret having four blokes try to make light of the recent sex scandal, Jo Brand doing a good job.”

Ian William Lowe wrote: “Why in God’s name did the BBC put four 40 year old white men on #higny to discuss the Westminster sex scandal!!? Thank God for Jo Brand".

Another simply wrote: “I love Jo Brand. She is a very good example of a very good human being”.

Ms Brand’s comments come in the midst of the sleaze investigation into sexual misconduct at Westminster after allegations were made against numerous MPs for sexual assault and harassment.
