Jack Tweed rape trial jury out

Jack Tweed arrives at Snaresbrook Crown Court where he is charged with rape
12 April 2012

The jury trying Jack Tweed for allegedly raping a young woman, has retired to consider its verdicts.

Tweed, 22, the widower of Big Brother star Jade Goody, and his friend Anthony Davis, 26, are alleged to have attacked the woman, then aged 19, in the early hours of September 4 last year.

The attack is alleged to have taken place at Tweed's former home in Brandesbury Square, Repton Park, Woodford Green, east London.

The woman, now 20, and her friends went to Tweed's house after a night out at the Embassy club in Mayfair.

Tweed married reality TV star Goody, 27, shortly before she lost her battle against cervical cancer in March 2009.

Both Tweed and Davis, a property developer, of Stradbroke Drive, Chigwell, Essex, deny rape.

The jury of six men and six women trying the case at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London, retired shortly before 1pm.
