IPCC: 'more Hillsborough police statements may have been amended'

A further 74 statements from police officers involved in the Hillsborough stadium disaster "may have been amended," according to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The police watchdog said there was evidence that "fans' witness accounts may have been altered".

The IPCC is continually investigating police conduct following the deaths of 96 Liverpool supporters during a match against Nottingham Forest at the Hillsborough stadium in April 1989.

Deborah Glass, IPCC's deputy chair, said it was working towards producing "the last, definitive account" of the disaster.
