Internet ‘trolls’ taunt mother with message from dead son

Tragic: Jordan Agar with his mother Bridget. He died a day after 16th birthday

Police are hunting for internet trolls who taunted the mother of a teenager killed in a moped crash — saying he was still alive.

Jordan Agar was killed in an accident last Friday, the day after his 16th birthday, when he crashed into a wall at a junction.

A fake Facebook profile was set up in his name, from which his mother, Bridget, received a message saying: “I’m not really dead.”

She was also invited to a “birthday party” for him and asked for intimate pictures of her other son’s girlfriend.

Mrs Agar said: “Another said, ‘Mum, I’m not dead, I’m sat at the computer, I just ran away’.”

Facebook took down the profile and has now launched a joint investigation with Staffordshire Police.

A Facebook spokesman said: “It is a cruel twist for the family who have seen scores of heartfelt tributes for Jordan posted on Facebook.”

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm we received a report of a fake Facebook profile page which had been created in Jordan’s name.”

Internet “trolling” can be classed as a criminal offence if comments cause harassment, alarm or distress to a victim.
