Heathrow Airport says it's "bear-ginning to look a lot like Christmas" as the company unveils its new festive advert.

Christmas ad season is in full swing as household brands launch their hotly anticipated campaigns in the run-up to December 25.

The west London operator has today unveiled its own advert, re-introducing the company's "much-loved" teddy bear mascots, Doris and Edward Bair.

This year the couple are seen returning home from Florida as they long for a "quintessential British Christmas," the firm said.

Edward opens the advert as he soaks up some sun on his lilo, wearing festive swimming shorts and applying layers of tanning oil to his fur.

After hearing the sound of carols, speaking to family and seeing images of home, all these little touches remind the Bairs that Christmas in the sunshine just isn't the same.

They jump on a plane to make sure they can make it home to cosy up to a log fire and hang some stockings.

Set to the 80’s classic of Paul Young’s ‘Every Time You Go Away’, the Bairs rush themselves back to British and arrive into Heathrow - where they were shown meeting in the 1960s in last year's advert.

Paul Young, singer, songwriter and musician commented: “’Every Time You Go Away’ was first released over thirty years ago in 1985

"So much has changed since then, however the feeling of loved ones going away is still the same.

"I’m delighted that it will feature on Heathrow’s Christmas advert which brings to life those feelings for Doris, Edward and the Bair family”.

Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “The nation’s love for Doris and Edward is overwhelming and has been since we first met them in 2016.

"For many people, being close to the ones we love is what really makes Christmas special.

"This is why we see The Bairs return to their family from warmer climes, as many of Heathrow’s passengers make similar journeys home for the festive season.”
