Harvey Parker’s mum says family want missing 20-year-old home for Christmas

The “terrified” parents of missing Harvey Parker have said they just want them home for Christmas.

The 20-year-old, believed to use they/their pronouns, was last seen at about 2.15am on Friday leaving Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross and heading towards the Embankment.

The University of York student had been to a Lil Simz concert at the Brixton Academy before visiting Heaven. Mr Parker’s phone has been unresponsive since Friday.

In an emotional appeal Mr Parker’s mother Amanda Armstrong told the BBC her son was a “friendly, music-loving, clubbing-loving” young person.

She said: “He has high-functioning autism so he is really fun to be around but he may not be receiving information or making the same of it as others do. This makes him vulnerable in certain situations.”

She asked Mr Parker directly: “If you are seeing this please just come home.”

She added it was completely out of character for him to just “go off”, not show up for work and not be active on social media.

“We just want him back for Christmas,” she said.

His stepfather Michael Armstrong added: “Initially we had things to do to track him down but now we just don’t know what is happening.”

Police said on Tuesday CCTV showed Mr Parker entering nearby Craven Street after leaving Heaven and walking south towards the Embankment.

When Mr Parker failed to return home to Lambeth on Friday morning, family members initially thought Mr Parker was at work at the Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Officers say there is no reason for Mr Parker not to be in contact with his family as they urged the public to help find them.

“To assist the public, we are releasing images of Harvey from the night he went missing,” said Detective Sergeant Dick Nation.

“This is a terrible ordeal for Harvey’s family and friends and I would urge anyone who saw him or has any information to contact police immediately.”

Mr Parker is described as 5ft 8ins and mixed race with a slim build and short black hair.

The University of York, where Harvey is a second-year music student, also appealed for anyone with information to get in touch with police.

In a statement, the university said: “We’re very concerned that one of our students, Harvey Parker, is currently missing after a night out in London.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC. Please quote CAD 3134/18DEC21.
