Green Park underground station has had a BBC revamp to inaugurate the premiere of Sir David Attenborough’s The Green Planet.
The Welcome to Their World campaign run by BBC Creative washed a leafy green over underground signage.
It replaces the iconic red and blue as Green Park is rebranded as Green Planet.
Posters have been plastered along the Victoria line southbound platform of the three-part series, which began on Sunday 9, providing a panoramic view of plant life featured in the show such as carnivorous underwater life and humanoid cacti.
The first episode explores the world of plants starting with a huge underground fungus that survives by pulling rank on an army of ants to gather and feed it plant food from nearby.
The Green Planet posters flank two digital screens that air the series trailer – also available to watch on iPlayer.
Stuart Gittings, creative lead at BBC Creative, said: “Our goal for ‘Welcome to Their World’ was to showcase the series’ most otherworldly plantlife in the most immersive way possible, so taking over a piece of London’s iconic Underground presented an unmissable opportunity to bring our audience into their world.”
The BBC Creative team have made their mark in the PR world with previous theatrics.
For instance, the BBC Creative team created the billboard set on fire in 2021 for David Attenborough’s A Perfect Planet natural history series to show the disastrous effects of human behaviour on the planet.
They also won awards for their haunting Dracula campaign, manipulating shadows and bloody stakes to reveal the Count himself on the poster in the dark.
