Fears are growing for a British tourist who has gone missing in the Swiss Alps.

Myles Robinson, 23, was last seen outside the Blue Monkey bar in Wengen just after 2am on Tuesday when he escorted a friend to her hotel.

On Thursday night his family, who were with him on holiday, spoke of their frantic search.

His sister Cara, 25, said: "We've heard absolutely nothing since then. It's a total mystery."

She said her family could think of no reason why he would suddenly disappear.

"He's been coming here for about 15 years. He knows the region, he knows the locals. He's a normal boy. He would never wander off."

She added: "We are a really close family."

The Swiss army has been called in to help with a helicopter search and teams using sniffer dogs and infra-red cameras have scoured the area.

Mr Robinson was wearing jeans, a white shirt, dark jumper and jacket when he was last seen. Locals said it was a clear night when he vanished.

Mr Robinson was on holiday with his sister and parents Michael and Sarah, of Wandsworth, south-west London.
