Father killed in drive-by shooting

12 April 2012

A man, 50, has been killed and his son critically injured in a drive-by shooting in north London, police said.

Two men on a motorbike pulled up outside a convenience store in Holloway on Sunday morning and shot the two victims before riding off.

The 50-year-old man from Islington was pronounced dead at the scene, while his son, 21, was taken to a London hospital in a critical condition.

It happened outside the Euro Wine & Food store in Hornsey Road, near its junction with Tollington Way. It is understood that one of the victims worked at the store.

"We retain an open mind regarding any motive at present," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Detectives appealed for any witnesses to come forward. No arrests have been made.

A post-mortem examination will take place.
