National Lottery officials were today hunting for a mystery Briton who has scooped a huge £51.8m EuroMillions jackpot.

A UK ticket holder matched all the numbers in the draw on Tuesday, but they are yet to come forward.

The winning numbers were 09, 01, 05, 22 and 38 and the winning Lucky Star numbers are 10 and 02.

"We urge all players to check their tickets, to see if they have scooped the £51.8 million jackpot, so they can begin to enjoy their life-changing win as soon as possible," said a National Lottery spokesman.

The total of £51,818,873.70 is the third UK EuroMillions jackpot win this year, with two £25m prizes being won in February.

The sum will make the winner one of the UK’s richest people with a fortune equalling that of Adele and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Last week, a Briton won the biggest Lotto prize ever when they matched all six numbers in the draw to win £35,133,888.
