EU Referendum: Jeremy Clarkson and James May film video supporting Remain campaign

Jeremy Clarkson and James May have given their support to the remain in Europe campaign, stating it’s one of the few things they manage to agree on.

The outspoken pair released a short YouTube clip today, promoting what they say are the benefits of Britain remaining in Europe.

Their stance has come as a surprise to many given their track record on international relations.

Clarkson said: “It annoys me because I want to remain in Europe and that means agreeing with him (May).

May added: “This is very uncharacteristic, we’ve had to put aside the normal policy of the tv show and our relationship and agree on something apart from that the Ford Mondeo is a good car.”

The pair add that they wouldn’t have been able to film their new show, the Grand Tour, without the freedom of movement allowed by the European Union.

But the pair soon descend into their usual bickering when Clarkson insults Switzerland, who recently withdrew their application to join the EU.

He said: “That’s why we don’t film in Switzerland, it’s just a waste of time, well Switzerland is a waste of time.”

Premier League bosses also came out in favour of the Remain campaign, outlining the sport’s commitment to openness.

Despite listing badly last week, the Remain vote is back in the lead ahead of Thursday’s vote, according to the latest polls.
