Eamonn Holmes was praised for his first appearance on GB News on Monday morning.

The TV star made his stellar debut hosting a breakfast show alongside GB News co-star Isabel Webster this week after he quit his job on This Morning.

Speaking on the show, the high-profile presenter vowed to be doing “lots of things differently” in his new job as he was showered with praise on social media for his debut.

He told viewers at home: “I’m having some lovely messages from people all around the country who are looking forward to whatever we’re going to do differently.

“Hopefully we are going to do lots of things differently.

“We’re going to do news, but we’re going to do news with views. We’re going to do your news, because if it is important to you, it is important to us.”

Their breakfast segment so far covered topics from masks in schools to travel plans for 2022.

Naturally Mr Holmes wasn’t shy about asking for feedback on his appearance via his Twitter following his debut.

He wrote: “Well folks .... What do you think of it so far ? #Breakfast with Eamonn & Isabel.”

Many rushed to share their congratulations and the presenter responded by re-tweeting their compliments on his social media page.

Among the sea of comments, Mr Holmes retweeted: “Love it you two are really great, you are a breath of fresh air in the mornings Eamonn. well done!”

Other comments included: “@GBNEWS@IsabelWebster_@EamonnHolmes great start on the Breakfast Show. Very encouraging. Hurrah.”

“I am watching @GBNEWS for the first time today. @EamonnHolmes is talking about pets and fireworks, so far @itv is off @GBNEWS is on!”

“Go for it you guys. Bringing some real credibility to GB News.”

Signing off at the end of the show, Mr Holmes said: “We are coming to the end of our first day – and hopefully not our last day of the GB News breakfast show. A new look.

“I need to make a long-term plan about how to get up in the morning. I didn’t sleep a wink last night. My kids brought me a fancy alarm clock that went off and then I couldn’t turn it off.”
