Dylan royalties for Crisis charity

12 April 2012

Bob Dylan is to help homeless people in the UK find shelter this Christmas by donating proceeds from his new album to charity.

He has pledged to give all of his international royalties from Christmas In The Heart, released on October 12, to the UK charity Crisis and the World Food Programme.

Songs on the festive album, Dylan's 47th, include Winter Wonderland, Little Drummer Boy and Here Comes Santa Claus.

Initial proceeds are expected to pay for 15,000 meals for homeless people in the UK over Christmas, as well as 500,000 meals for schoolchildren in the developing world.

Dylan said: "That the problem of hunger is ultimately solvable means we must each do what we can to help feed those who are suffering and support efforts to find long-term solutions.

"I'm honoured to partner with the World Food Programme and Crisis in their fight against hunger and homelessness."

Leslie Morphy, chief executive of Crisis, said: "We are very grateful to Bob Dylan for his generous donation from the proceeds of his latest album.

"The money will help us provide thousands of hot meals to our guests including a traditional Christmas dinner."

The news follows Dylan's recent decision to give all his US royalties from the album to the Feeding America charity.
