Dad uses fake letter from PM to convince daughters they have to go to school every day after lockdown

A dad convinced his two children that they would have to go to school on weekends to make up for lost time after the coronavirus lockdown.

Liam Schewitz, a loans salesperson and stand up comedian from Cardiff, gave his daughters, aged 8 and 12, a letter that claimed to be from Prime Minister Boris Johnson and outlined the fake plan.

His daughters believed him - and Mr Schewitz didn't tell them the truth for several hours, even after they had told their friends.

Mr Schewitz said the joke was part of an ongoing prank war with his daughters.

He told the Standard: "My youngest daughter was really laying the smack talk down, she was saying 'you'd better be ready because it's prank week soon'.

"She came all guns blazing to be fair to her."

Mr Schewitz said after the pranks and "general pest-like behaviour" got too much, he showed his youngest daughter the letter.

"She said, 'Oh no, that's not right', and I said 'Yes it is, it's from the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson'", Mr Schewitz added.

His youngest daughter then convinced her sister that the letter was real, and they told their friends on the phone.

Mr Schewitz continued: "It was perfect, to be honest. That went on for hours."

When he eventually revealed the truth, Mr Schewitz said his daughters took it well and were planning the next prank.

Mr Schewitz posted videos and photos of his prank on social media, which have been shared widely.

He added that his daughters have been very happy to have been part of a joke that has made many people laugh.
