Comedy night aims to break records

12 April 2012

Comic Relief is urging people to "do something funny for money", as celebrities take part in a TV extravaganza to celebrate Red Nose Day.

The night of comedy sketches and wacky fundraising stunts on the BBC will include the last ever French and Saunders sketch.

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders will perform parody of the smash hit Mamma Mia! The Movie.

Guest stars in the show-stopping musical skit will include Sienna Miller, Joanna Lumley, Philip Glenister and Alan Carr.

There will also be special Red Nose treats from The Royle Family, the cast of Outnumbered, Ricky Gervais and a Little Britain sketch which includes Robbie Williams.

The singer plays Candy Marie-Candy, a friend of Ellie Grace (Matt Lucas) who is on a sleepover.

Dragon's Den tycoons will pitch their wares to Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. Hosts will include David Tennant, Davina McCall, Fern Britton, Claudia Winkleman, Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Graham Norton.

Gavin and Stacey's James Corden will impart his wisdom to the England football squad, while the conclusion of Comic Relief Does The Apprentice will see which celebrity candidate feels the wrath of Sir Alan Sugar and hears the immortal words: "You're fired!"

There will be clips from Let's Dance for Comic Relief, a one-off Sarah Jane Adventures sketch featuring Ronnie Corbett, and a collaboration between double-acts Armstrong and Miller and Mitchell and Webb.

"We are confident that the British public will once again dig deep and we anticipate a record year," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
