M25 coach crash: Baby boy born after coach overturned on motorway leaving 41 people including seven children injured

A baby boy has been born at the scene of a coach crash on the M25 in Kent that left 41 people, including seven children, injured.

Kent Police Roads Policing Unit confirmed on Twitter that a baby boy had been born after the crash near junction three of the bust motorway.

Police also confirmed that there are no serious injuries following the rush-hour crash.

Motorists were facing delays of around an hour and a half, according to Highways England, with the slip lane expected to be closed for some time.

Witnesses at the scene claim to have seen 13 ambulances, police cars and a helicopter attending to the overturned coach on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at approximately 4pm to reports of a collision involving a coach on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 near to junction 3.

“Officers are currently at the scene with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.”

The police confirmed that the junction 3 slip road on the anti-clockwise carriageway is closed along with lanes one and two of the motorway.

Motorists have been urged to find alternative routes.

The Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington, Kent, is on major incident alert, a spokesman said.

No patients have yet been received and the hospital is on standby, he added.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service earlier said firefighters were using cutting gear to free two people trapped.

Three fire engines and "several vehicles from the heavy rescue team" were sent out "as a precaution", he added.

Witnesses at the scene said there were long delays.

While Josh Ray wrote: "M25 #J3 avoid. Not moved for an hour."

And Marlene Ray said: "J3 is a non starter. Been sat in my car with the engine off for an hour."
