A47 crash: Two men dead and seven people seriously injured after lorry and bus smash in Cambridgeshire

Two men have died and seven people are seriously injured after a lorry collided with a bus in Cambridgeshire.

The HGV and bus crashed on the A47 in Wisbech on Tuesday morning.

Cambridgeshire Police confirmed two men travelling in the bus had been killed and seven people suffered serious injuries following the crash.

A further 11 people suffered minor injuries, police added.

Officers paid tribute to those involved in the crash on Twitter.

A post from Cambridgeshire Police's official account read: "We are sorry to report that two men, travelling in the bus involved in the A47 collision, have sadly died. Our thoughts are with their families at this time. Seven people have been serious injured and 11 have minor injuries following the collision."

Magpas Air Ambulance said: "@Magpas-Charity enhanced doctor & paramedic team were called to a major incident on the A47 in the Wisbech area, involving an HGV & a bus."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We are currently attending a serious road traffic incident in Thorney Road, Guyhirn.

"The East of England Ambulance Service Trust has currently dispatched seven ambulance crews, three ambulance officers, two rapid response vehicles, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and Magpas Air Ambulance to the scene where the crew are caring for several seriously injured patients.

"We are working closely with our emergency blue light colleagues, and we thank the public for their assistance at this time."
