Brit award seals Take That comeback

12 April 2012

Take That sealed their comeback at the Brits - while their old bandmate Robbie Williams remained thousands of miles away in rehab.

Reformed boy-band Take That showed they had lost none of their magic by winning best single for comeback track Patience, voted by the public.

Meanwhile, Williams lost out on the Live Act award - but his presence was felt as the pop elite lined up to send him goodwill messages.

Lily Allen won none of the three awards she was nominated for, despite her rapid rise from near-obscurity.

Oasis were honoured with an Outstanding Contribution to Music award.

In typical rebellious style, Liam said of the award: "Is that all it is? I suppose it will have to do."

The band closed the night by performing some of their most famous hits Cigarettes and Alcohol, Morning Glory, Don't Look Back in Anger, and Rock and Roll Star.

Take That gave the performance of the night with Patience.

They received a standing ovation as they took to the stage to pick up their best British single award.

The win capped a triumphant comeback a decade after the boy band split.
