Boat Race 2019 time: When does Oxford vs Cambridge start on Sunday?

Cambridge head back to the capital on Sunday bidding to win a third Boat Race in four years after victory along the Thames Tideway 12 months ago.

The light blues stormed to victory by three lengths in the 164th edition of the contest, handing head coach Steve Trapmore a farewell triumph.

That win put Cambridge 83-80 ahead overall and ended a spell of Oxford domination during which they secured five victories in seven years.

Around 300,000 people expected to line the banks for the race, with two-time Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell (46) set to become the oldest competitor in the event's histroy

Start time

The 2019 Boat Race will take place on Sunday, April 7. The women's race gets under way at 2.13pm and the men's race follows the same route just under an hour later at 3.10pm.

TV and online coverage

BBC1 will be broadcasting live coverage from 1.20pm on the day of the race. Online viewers can watch the race live or catch up on BBC iPlayer.

Course route

The clubs' presidents toss a coin at the start of the race to determine who will take up which station. The Middlesex station, nearest the river's northern bank, is advantageous at the beginning and end of the race, while the middle section plays into the hands of the crew occupying the Surrey (south) station.
