Blair's son leaves hospital

12 April 2012

Tony Blair's eldest son Euan has been discharged from hospital in Barbados after treatment for stomach pain.

The 22-year-old was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Bridgetown on Thursday.

He did not require surgery and his condition was not thought to be serious.

The health scare came just before the Blair family were due to finish their three-week summer break.

The Prime Minister arrived back in Britain on Friday morning and has spent the day working in Number 10.

Professor Andrew Zbar, a doctor at the hospital, had earlier said that he hoped Euan would be well enough to be discharged on Friday night, but refused to give further details.

The Blairs have been staying at Sir Cliff Richard's holiday home in Barbados during their annual break.

Euan has two younger brothers - Nicky, 20, and Leo, six - and an 18-year-old sister, Kathryn.

Euan recently accepted a scholarship place at the prestigious US college Yale to do a two-year masters in international relations.

In May he carried out an unpaid internship in Washington, after securing a 2:1 in his ancient history degree at Bristol University.
