All change for party bride Kate

The Duchess of Cambridge leaves Clarence House to travel to Buckingham Palace
12 April 2012

Newlywed Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has switched into a new outfit for her wedding party at Buckingham Palace.

Leaving Clarence House with husband William, she had changed into another Sarah Burton creation - a strapless white satin gazar evening dress with a circle skirt and diamante embroidered detail round the waist. She also wore a short white angora cardigan.

Earlier Kate wore a stunning lace applique gown for her wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The Duchess of Cambridge said: "I am glad the weather held off. We had a great day."

Some 300 of the couple's closest family and friends will celebrate with dancing and dinner at the black tie do, which will stretch into the early hours, if not beyond.

The Queen has given over her home to the wedding celebration, heading off for a private weekend away in the UK to allow the revellers to let their hair down. She will miss Prince Harry's eagerly awaited best man speech.

Guests expected to celebrate with the couple at the party being hosted by the Prince of Wales include William and Kate's trusted friends Guy Pelly and Thomas van Straubenzee.

The new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will spend the first night as a married couple at the palace.

The couple left with Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall. The royal party looked happy and relaxed.

The heir to the throne and his son, the new Duke of Cambridge, were dressed in dinner jackets with black bow ties. Kate had her hair down in her favourite style for the private party.
