Aldi is limiting shoppers to just two boxes each of halloumi fries after a surge in popularity.

The budget supermarket chain has announced the product has become so popular with customers that it has to limit the amount it sells to each person.

Halloumi fries, which are on sale for £1.99 a packet, have been limited to two per customers because of a surge in popularity since the product was introduced earlier this summer.

A spokeswoman for the store said: “I can confirm that as of now Halloumi Fries are being limited in stores to two boxes per person.

“This is to ensure that all customers have the chance to try this popular product for themselves.

“Unfortunately we are unable to share any sales data.”

Aldi was the first in the UK to sell the tasty treats and the lack of availability of the product has been disappointing halloumi lovers.

Taking to twitter to vent frustration, one shopper said: “So has anyone ever had the halloumi fries from Aldi or are they all a lie?”

While another said: “I’d walk 500 miles to get halloumi fries from Aldi.”

One shopper claimed to have never seen the popular product.

One frustrated shopper said they'd even been trying for two months to get his hands on the popular product.

And other halloumi fries fan thought the product was too good to be true.
