AJ Pritchard’s girlfriend, Abbie Quinnen, has suffered third degree burns after a social media stunt went horribly wrong.

Ms Quinnen, 23, was filming a “life hack” with her Strictly Come Dancing star boyfriend on January 19, when the accident happened.

She was attempting to show how a glass bottle could be cut in half and used as a vase.

The stunt involved dipping a rope into a flammable chemical, wrapping it around the bottle and lighting a flame.

But the wine bottle exploded and Ms Quinnen’s upper body was engulfed in flames.

A source close to the couple told The Sun that doctors had fought to save the 23-year-old dancer’s face and arms from severe scarring.

“Abbie was shocked and in a great deal of pain but AJ sprang into action to put out the fire with a wet tea towel,” the source said.

“He was terrified himself but he did all he could to stop her from burning.”

Mr Pritchard’s brother and Love Island star, Curtis, who lives with the couple, drove them to Ealing Hospital after 999 operators said that paramedics could take time to reach their apartment.

Ms Quinnen was admitted to intensive care before she was transferred to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s specialist burns unit on January 20.

Since the incident, the source said Ms Quinnen had made 20 hospital visits and needed three skin grafts.

Mr Pritchard, who has taken on the role as her full-time carer, is said to be devastated.
