Adele has confessed she was upset by how some fans reacted to her divorce on social media.

The star, 33, announced she was going to split up from ex Simon Konecki in 2019. The couple share a son Angelo, nine, and remain friends following their separation.

Speaking to Rolling Stone UK and appearing on the magazine’s second ever cover, Adele said she worried about fans not “liking” her post split.

Tottenham-born Adele, who lives in Los Angeles with her son, admitted she fretted over some negative comments online.

The star also opened up about her new romance with Rich Paul

She said: “During something like that, that kind of significant thing to happen in life, your mind sort of goes to those places: ‘Why don’t they like me? Why would they write that if they’ve followed me for 10 years?’ But in reality, that’s not their responsibility. In reality, their responsibility as a fan is to want a good record and to hope I deliver. So I took it with a pinch of salt, and it was fine.”

Speaking about the split in the past, Adele has said she was “disappointed” for herself and her son that the relationship didn’t work.

In the latest interview, she described feeling at peace with deciding to split with charity boss Konecki.

She added: “I remember going upstairs, and doing my face, and getting into bed. I felt quite hopeful. It was the first time I felt I’d had a really nice evening and I was OK being in the house and going to bed on my own. I was not excited, but I was looking forward to the next day.”

The singer described how she turned to various means to “sooth” her emotions during the split - including hiking, sound baths and giving up drinking for six months.

The star is now in a relationship with sports agent Rich Paul and she suggested she kept her new man under wraps for some time.

She said: “I didn’t really tell many of my friends at the beginning because I wanted to keep it to myself. None of them believed it!”
