Adele has celebrated her 30th birthday with a giant Titanic-themed party.

The singer dressed up as Rose, Kate Winslet’s character from the 1997 Oscar-winning film.

Images of the bash have had mixed reviews with some people saying that wearing life jackets was inappropriate.

Some 1,527 people were killed when the Titanic sank in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912.

In the images posted to Instagram, the singer was pictured at the top of a grand stair case and also dancing with a life jacket on.

She captioned the images:”Dirty 30! I’m not sure what i’m going to do for the next 30 years as I’ve been blessed beyond words in my life so far.

“Thank you to everyone for coming along for the ride the last 11 years with me and my family and friends for entertaining my super fandom of the Titanic movie. Last night was the best night of my life.”

Other celebrities who attended the bash include Alan Carr, Zane Lowe and Mark Ronson.

She wrote: “I’m absolutely f*****, not sure I’ll make it out the house again!”

Some people took to Twitter to share their idea on the party.

One person wrote: “”I love Adele & I don’t think there is anything wrong with a Titanic themed party, but I think the life jackets is pushing it , this was a real life tragedy in which 1500 lost their lives , I say this as someone whose obsessed with the history of the RMS Titanic.”

However other fans appeared to love the pictures.

One fan wrote: 'Adele dressed up as Rose Dewitt Bukater in her titanic themed birthday party is literally the best things I saw today.'

Cameron's film was based on the true story of the passenger liner RMS Titanic sinking in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912.

It's thought that Adele would have been nine at the time the film was released.

She has made references to the film in the past and earlier this year was pictured on Instagram meeting Celine Dion.
